Franciaország: identitás és nagyhatalmiság

A tanulmány Franciaországnak az Európában és a világban elfoglalt helyével, illetve a francia történelemnek a francia politikában betöltött szerepével foglalkozik. A modern francia önkép és identitás gyökerei 1789-ig nyúlnak vissza, amikor kitört a nagy forradalom. Ezzel az eseménnyel Franciaország egyfajta programot adott Európának és a világnak. A franciák erre büszkék is, hiszen részben ez adta az alapját a grandeur-politikájuknak. Annak alapjai azonban a 20. században igencsak megkoptak. Ettől függetlenül a Grande Nation-önkép még él bennük, és ebben vezető politikusaik is megerősítik őket. Akkor is, ha ellent­mondásos a történelmi tudatukban győzelmeik és vereségeik megjelenítése. A tanulmány sokat foglalkozik a mostani francia nagyhatalmiság alapjaival, legyen szó annak kemény vagy puha dimenzióiról. A végén pedig kitér a francia kivételesség gondolatára, amely szorosan összefügg a kultúrával, a geopolitikával és a történelemmel.

The paper explores France’s position in Europe and the world, as well as the role of French history in shaping French politics. The roots of modern French self-image and identity can be traced back to 1789, when the Great Revolution broke out. With this event, France presented an agenda to Europe and the world. The French take pride in this, as it forms partly the basis of their grandeur policy. However, the foundations of this policy were seriously eroded in the 20th century. Nevertheless, the self-image of the Grande Nation is still alive and well, and their prominent politicians confirm this, even though they may have a contradictory perspective on their victories and defeats in their historical consciousness. The study is very much concerned with the foundations of France’s current status as a great power, both with its hard and soft dimensions. It concludes with a discussion of the idea of French exceptionalism, which is closely connected to culture, geopolitics and history.
