Synopsis
With 70% of the new value expected to be created in the global economy over the next ten years to be digital, the risk of loss of value for the European Union is constantly increasing. This study aims to present the means by which the European Union is trying to stimulate the digital transition, and within this, the role of state aid and EU competition policy. The presentation of the relevant Hungarian and German state aid practices in the area of subsidies available in the two countries provides a reasonable basis for comparison in order to understand the challenges specific to the area better.
